motorized light filtering roller shades

Motorized light filtering roller shades for a luxury custom townhome in Cary, NC

At Made in the Shade in Raleigh, NC, one of our favorite types of projects is custom home designs. This project involved the installation of motorized light filtering roller shades in the main living space.

Our client in Cary, NC was building a new, luxury custom townhome. She imported stone and marble for the floors and countertops to achieve the luxury look she wanted. We worked with the homeowner and the designer to select and install custom window coverings for the home and that same level of luxury and quality.

The main room was an open concept. The kitchen, dining area and living room were all one open space. The client needed window coverings that offered privacy but still allowed light to fill the rooms.

She also needed them to be motorized as the windows were too tall for her to reach for manual operation. Because the shades would need to be raised and lowered frequently, Made In The Shade recommended motorized roller shades that filter but do not fully block the light. We chose a black top treatment called a fascia to blend in with her black windows and casement.

The advantages of roller shades

Roller shades are one of the most popular choices for window coverings. They are not only durable and functional but also elegant and clean in style. Roller shades roll completely up, allowing an unobstructed view from your windows. You can add personality and style to your roller shades with a variety of decorative fabrics and textures. Roller shades are easy to clean, simple to operate and available at an affordable price point.

Motorized roller shades allow you to raise and lower your window coverings at the touch of a button! This is a perfect option for tall windows and high ceilings. Or when you want the ease and flexibility of lowering all the shades in your home all at once.

Roller shades offer security and privacy as well as being energy efficient. Our client in Cary chose light-filtering fabric for her shades. But you can also choose blackout options for more privacy or to create a more restful place to sleep.
